Holy Basil Research 

In May 2017, Noelle graduated with an M.S. in Horticulture from the University of Georgia (UGA). She was funded by the USDA through a program called the National Needs Fellows.

Her research was on the medicinal herb called holy basil aka tulsi (Ocimum sanctum). Her degree was interdisciplinary, working with the Horticulture and Food Science departments at UGA. In horticulture, she learned how to grow holy basil in the field. In food science she learned how to analyze essential oils using gas chromatography. She characterized the differences between 14 different varieties of holy basil based on yield and the content and composition of essential oils.
